   Student to Student

Dear Prospective Student,

My name is Justin Otor, and I’ve just completed my fourth and final year at The Davidson Academy. It’s possible that you’ve been exposed to this school for the same reason I was: you have a passion for learning that isn’t currently being met. If that scenario is remotely similar to yours, then I can assure you that you’ve found the right place. I might venture to say that the Academy reeks of learning; a chance to do so awaits behind nearly every corner of the school.

As you may know, opportunities to learn can present themselves in a variety of ways and places. This variety is only enhanced at The Davidson Academy. If you came, you would have instant access to the Academy’s own thought-provoking classes, where our bright teachers are given the liberty to guide classes in directions formerly unknown to newer students. An even larger number of fascinating courses are available through the University of Nevada, Reno.

However, it’s not only teachers who do the teaching here. Our small collection of students has a remarkably wide range of interests. In the same day, you could find yourself talking about topics like existentialism and differential equations, in addition to your typical brand of sophomoric humor and conversation . . . with an intellectual twist. Enough chatting with students like these would inevitably teach you something new nearly every day, even without access to classes like ours.

As it relates to my pursuit of knowledge, my time at The Davidson Academy has been exactly what I was hoping for. Since I came, I have suffered very few uninteresting days. Even though I won’t be there to see it, I’m already convinced that your experience will be just as positive, if not better. In the meantime, I’ll be off trying to make my mark at Princeton—and I can definitely credit the Academy with giving me the know-how to do so.

Davidson Academy“All the students are here to learn, so the student body and social life encourage studying and learning new things above all else. Hallway conversations tend to revolve around interpretations of Plato or debates over political theories, helping students to learn even when they are not in class.”
