Hello Prospective Davidson Academy students!
At the end of my second year at The Davidson Academy, I have to say, it’s been one of the best times of my life. The teachers are wonderful and the students are all very nice. While
The Davidson Academy definitely has an awesome academic environment, the social environment is even better. Yes, there are squabbles between students every now and then, but overall, all the students at the
Academy are very welcoming and kind.
When I entered The Davidson Academy, I had been homeschooled for most of my life. So going to school period was a new experience for me. But I don’t think it could have been better. I found that the teachers were very open to helping me if I had any difficulties, and the students were just as willing to lend a hand if I asked. The Academy was also very open to working with me to find classes that fit my needs. In the spring semester of my first year, I was allowed to switch from MS English to Composition II, because both
my teacher and I felt that it would fit my academic skill level better. It was a much better fit for me, because the work was more challenging.
When I started back this year at the Academy, I was excited. I welcomed the switch back to learning, though I was more than ready for school to be over by the end of spring semester. While it’s odd to see all the new students come in, especially when many of them
are several years younger than me, it’s also nice to see the school growing. Sometimes I do wish that the
Academy would remain as it was in my first year, with more
of a community feel, where everyone knows everyone. But I’m looking forward to my two remaining years here.
I’ve had so many positive experiences as a result of coming
to the Academy. I’ve made many, many friends, and had learning experiences that couldn’t happen anywhere else. I also have the freedom to study subjects that interest me, such as Japanese, thanks to
the opportunity to take University of Nevada, Reno courses. It’s been a
very positive experience, even though some parts of the ride have been bumpy. And I’ll be happy to go back in August, though I’ll definitely enjoy my summer off!
I hope to see you as part of the student body in the future!
