Even though it is the middle of summer and school won’t be in session at The Davidson Academy until late August, we’ve been busy preparing for the upcoming school year. The
2009-2010 School Profile, which provides information on the Academy’s background, mission statement, goals, graduates, eligibility criteria, courses students have taken, and more, is
available on the
Academic Overview page of the Academy’s website. Make sure to view the new PowerPoint presentation (PDF) that explains the Academy’s curriculum design and maps, workload, class placement and details of the admission assessments (see link below).
Enjoy the rest of your summer!!

THINK Summer
Institute |
|
Home to The Davidson Academy, the Jot Travis Building is also the location
of most THINK Summer Institute classes, currently in session, from July 11 through August 1. THINK allows students to enjoy three weeks of challenging, college-level work while making new friends and living on the University of Nevada, Reno campus! If you will be 13 to 16 years old during THINK, which runs annually in July, you can apply with test results that meet or exceed designated
SAT or
ACT scores listed at
www.DavidsonGifted.org/Think.
THINKers have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the University
campus where The Davidson Academy of
Nevada is located, along with some of
the faculty who teach Academy students,
and attend cultural events in the
Reno-Lake Tahoe area. Check the website
for current tuition costs, which include course credits, room and
board, and the expense of planned
programs and activities. It’s not too
early to start thinking about next year!
Applications for 2010 will be available
this fall.

"My personal obsession is nuclear science. It was awesome coming to the Academy, because, even though I didn’t expect it, I have many resources here to further that interest. I have made many friends in the Physics Department at the University of Nevada, Reno, and have even been given lab space to work on one of my projects, all thanks to the fact that I am an Academy student."
